背景

联合国（UN）制定了17个可持续发展目标（SDGs）。实现这些目标最终将导致全球许多人生活水平的提高。

这些目标不是相互独立的。因此，通常在某些目标中取得的积极进展会对其他目标产生影响（积极的或消极的，有时两者都有）。

Problem D: Prioritizing the UN Sustainability Goals

Background

The United Nations (UN) has set 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Achieving these goals would ultimately lead to an improved life for many people around the world. These goals are not independent of each other.

So, often positive gains in some goals have an impact (positive or negative and sometimes both) on other goals.

This interconnectedness makes the achievement of all goals a fluid process where funding limitations and other national and international priorities may take precedence.

Additionally, the impact of technological advances, global pandemics, climate change, regional wars, and refugee movements have had serious implications on many of the goals.

Requirement

To explore the relationships between the goals:

• Create a network of the relationships between the 17 SDGs.
• Use the individual SDGs, as well as the structure of your network, to set priorities that -can most efficiently move the work of the UN forward. How did you evaluate the -effectiveness of each priority? What could be reasonable to achieve in the next 10 years if -your priorities are initiated?
• If one of the SDGs is achieved (for example, there is no poverty or no hunger), what -would be the structure of the resulting network? How would this achievement impact -your team’s priorities? Are there other goals that should be included or proposed to the -UN for inclusion?
• Discuss the impact of technological advances, global pandemics, climate change, -regional wars, and refugee movements, or other international crises on your team’s -network and your team’s choice of priorities. What are the significant effects on the -progress of the UN from a network perspective?
• Discuss how your network approach may help other companies and organizations set -priorities of their goals.

Registration Deadline: Before 3:00 p.m. EST on Thursday, February 16, 2023.

Contest Starts: 5:00 p.m. EST on Thursday, February 16, 2023.

Contest Ends: 8:00 p.m. EST on Monday, February 20, 2023.

Solution Report Deadline: 9:00 p.m. EST on Monday, February 20, 2023.

Contest Results: The results will be posted on or before May 31, 2023.

二、2023年美赛变化

Registration process has been streamlined and split into 2 parts: Advisor Registration and Team Registration.

The MCM/ICM Contest now have a 25 page limit. The 25 page limit applies to the entire submission including the Summary Sheet, Solution, Reference List, Table of Contents, Notes, Appendices, Code and any problem specific requirements.

Due to the Covid-19 virus teams are encouraged to meet virtually using electronic communications. BUT, your team members may only communicate with members of their own team.

The rule remains that teams may not use any persons, other than their own team members, to discuss or obtain ideas for working on and solving their problem.

三、赛题基本情况

美赛目前分为两种类型，MCM（Mathematical Contest In Modeling）和ICM（Interdisciplinary Contest In Modeling)，两种类型学术活动采用统一标准进行，学术活动题目出来之后，参赛队伍通过美赛官网进行选题，一共分为下面6种题型。

题目分类大致如此，但是近年来题目也开始发生微小变化，例如E题，之前都是环境相关的题目，今年开始与 可持续性联系尤为紧密。

MCM:全称The Mathematical Contest in Modeling，即数学建模学术活动，偏自然、理工科。对于参赛者的数学模型素养以及建模能力要求较高，

ICM:全称Interdisciplinary Contest In Modeling，一般涉及的问题较宏观和复杂。对于参赛者把握问题主线、权衡宏观与微观整体与细节的能力要求较高。

Unsuccessful Participant  US即参赛失败奖  未提交对应的解决方案

Successful Participant      S奖即成功参与奖 ，也可以成为三等奖

Honorable Mention           H奖即二等奖  对标国赛的省奖

Meritorious                         M奖即一等奖 对标国赛的国奖

Finalist                                F奖特等奖      对标国赛的优秀国一

Outstanding Winner         O奖  数模比赛的巅峰、最高荣誉，每年只有四十支左右的队伍获得对标国赛的高教社杯奖
