1. reception [rɪˈsepʃn]

n. 接待; 招待会; 接待处

[例句] He had gone to the reception desk, presumably to check out.

他已经去前台了，可能是要办理退房手续。

2. appointment [əˈpɔɪntmənt]

n. 约会; 任命; 职务

[例句] I hate to rush you but I have another appointment later on.

我真不想催你，但我稍后还有一个约会。

3. urgent [ˈɜ:dʒənt]

adj. 急迫的; 催促的

[例句] There is an urgent need for food and water.

现在急需食物和水。

4. handle [ˈhændl]

n. 手柄，柄状物

vi. 操作，操控

vt. 握住; 操纵; 负责，管理

[例句] The public never had faith in his ability to handle the job.

公众从来不相信他有能力胜任这一职位。

5. delivery [dɪˈlɪvəri]

n. 传送，投递; 分娩

[例句] The strike caused a great delay in the delivery of the mail.

这次罢工严重地延误了邮件的投递.

6. extension [ɪkˈstenʃn]

n. 伸展，扩大; 延长，延期; 电话分机

vt. 延期，推迟; 耽搁

vi. 延缓，延期

[例句] They claimed that such a delay wouldn't hurt anyone.

9. notify [ˈnəʊtɪfaɪ]

vt. 通知; 布告

[例句] The court clerk will notify the witness when and where to appear.

10. circumstance [ˈsɜ:kəmstəns]

n. 环境，境遇

[例句] You should soon accommodate yourself to the new circumstance.
