Title: Light painting photography
Description: Light painting photography, is a photographic work with light as the means of creation. This unique technique of art expression. as its name implies, uses the light source as a brush, and a photosensitive body as a "drawing board". It records the dynamic motion of the light source as the static image of the subject in a period of time, or USES the motion of the light source to highlight the environment or the subject. The point is that the light source is moving over a period of time, while the camera's sensor is evenly recording the light at each moment. Therefore, combined with the desired effect, through comparison and adjustment of ambient light intensity and light source intensity, it calculates the shutter time and motion speed of the light source to obtain an ideal exposure. If it is the light drawing of the variable light source, the time ratio should also be considered. Just like painting and writing, when the time of staying in a certain space is different, the style, strength and brush thickness left on the record carrier are different accordingly. Light painting demands selection of light sources. What I chose is steel silk floss. I first steeled wool to tear out about 10 cm long, then opened the steel wool with the hand, which allowed more air into it, and helped it burn properly. The steel wool was then ignited and waved around when the camera shutter was pressed. Steel wool does not burn violently in the absence of wind. Once the end of the wire rope was held and moved in a circle, the wool burnt violently and sent firework sparks flying out of the circle. Most importantly, the steel wool brightness was balanced with the ambient brightness, which made the photos even more impressive!

Title: Surface tension that occurs on a coin
Description: In this photo I captured how the surface tension happen occur the coin and you can see that though the water is higher than the edge of the coin, the water does not spillage.
In our daily life, the phenomenon that the water drops hang on the branches after rain and do not fall, and the water is slightly above the cup without overflowing, like the water above the coin, is the result of surface tension.
The force acting on the surface of the liquid to reduce the surface area of the liquid is called liquid surface tension. It is caused by the existence of a thin layer on the surface of liquid and gas contact, called the surface layer. The molecules in the surface layer are sparser than the inside of liquid, and the distance between molecules is larger than the inside of liquid. The interaction between molecules is manifested as gravity. As if you were to pull the spring back a little bit, the spring instead shows a tendency to contract.

Title: The Bubbles Under The Sun
Description: Bubbles are formed by the "surface tension" of water. The water molecules between the liquid will be pulled by both the water and the air, and because the water molecules are pulled by each other more than the water and the air, the water molecules will stick together in the air, also known as "bubbles". This is an interference of light. And because sunlight is made up of seven colors: red, orange, yellow, green, cyan, blue, and purple. So bubbles are colorful. When sunlight bounces back and forth between the two sides of the film, the distance between the two faces is so tiny that two beams of light, one from the front and the other from the back, may overlap. As a result, some of the seven colors of sunlight are enhanced and others are weakened or even cancel each other out at different thicknesses. So the membrane appears redder in some places, bluer in others, and other colors in others. This is called film color.

Title: Six Different Phase Transition in One Photo
Description: In this photo, there are six distinct changes in the state of matter(or Phase Transition ). First, sublimation, dry ice is heated and the temperature exceeds its sublimation point. Dry ice absorbs heat from the surrounding air and directly changes from solid to gaseous carbon dioxide. Second, liquefaction(Condensation), because dry ice absorbs heat and the surrounding temperature drops, causing the original water vapor in the air to liquefy. Third, melting, The candle in the background of the picture is burning, and the heat generated by its burning melts the paraffin. Fourth, Freezing(solidification). When part of the paraffin liquid flows down from the candle, it exotherms and solidifies into a solid. Fifth, gasification(Vaporization), the heat generated by the burning of some paraffin liquid candles is gasified to produce combustible gaseous paraffin. Sixth, Deposition, when the candle burns, appear white smoke which issmall white paraffin solid partical, it occurs when heat is remove from paraffin gas.

Title: The Bridge
Description: This picture shows the night view of the Garden bridge of Shanghai, which I took in China's new year. For the device, I used SLR to shoot this picture. The location of the shooting was in front of the Russian Embassy.
The Garden bridge of Shanghai, which was built as a landmark in Shanghai in 1985, its whole structure was made of steel. When I was shooting, I had a question about how can this bridge not collapse for so many years. Luckily, the physical knowledge in natural science answered the question very well. The bridge used the principle of mechanics and force counteracting. The structure of the bridge was a small semicircle, and it was crowded. The pressure does not come from the current, and the gravity at the top begins to squeeze on both sides. Therefore when the repulsive force is strong enough, it can be offset.
Moreover, steel is used as raw material in the bridge, it not only has good compression resistance but also has less carbon content because of its less carbon content, so it is more difficult to react (e.g. rust) and has strong toughness. It’s very suitable for bridge materials.

Title: Cold make by heat
Description: This photograph was taken by the schlieren method. It uses the property that the refractive index of light in a fluid is proportional to the density of the fluid to capture the airflow of different densities on the photograph. The photo shows a thermopile as known as Peltier cooler operating in front of a concave mirror. It will use electricity to creating temperature differences in each side. The thermopile transfers the heat from the cold side to the hot side so that the air at the cold side is cooler than room temperature so falls, and the air at the hot side is warmer than room temperature so rises.

Title: Entropy Production
Description: We live in a chaotic world. We can bring order but always end with the disorder. We cannot determine, stop, or even reverse this process. It`s a law and we have to live with it-- our universe produces entropy all the time.
This photograph displays a classic example of entropy production, diffusion, in which particles would diffuse from high density to low density. In this situation, a drop of yellow pigment enters the water and diffuses. Particles in it spread out evenly in water and become random through moving. They fill up the microstates in the bottle and produce entropy.

Title: Copper Coral
Description: My work is called Copper Coral,The reason is that the copper crystal on the filter paper has the similar color and shape of coral, which seem to grow in the ocean and slowly blooms.
And the chemistry behind this picture is zinc reacts with a solution of copper sulfate. (Zn+CuSO4═ZnSO4+Cu.)Due to the stronger metal reactivity of zinc than copper, the displacement reaction took place. The copper ions in the solution were displaced and reduced to copper. The copper is red, so there are red substances precipitated on the surface of zinc. After a long reaction of about eight hours,The beautiful “copper coral ”formed on the filter paper.

Title: Layers of waves
Description: This is a shoot of Danxia landform in Jingbian County, northern Shaanxi Provinxe. It was taken in a rocky crevice that allows only one person to pass through, and an unique angle brings impressive 3D visual strike.
The eroded red sandstone has been naturally and artistically carved to form undulating layers, visually striking textures with time pass by. The sandstone sediments rich in iron and manganese from the Cretaceous period brought a predominantly red hue, formed nearly 60 million years ago with strong winds from the northwestern highlands, aided by flowing water. Dynamic and enchanting, such unique Danxia landform is surely a masterpiece of strings of the earth.

Title:Dream
Description: The subject of my photography is jellyfish swimming freely in the deep sea. The jellyfish has a variety of shapes in the water, crystal clear and bright, their whole body is milky white, their bodies are soft as silk, with countless tentacles, they swim leisurely. They stretch out and shrink and dance with umbrella-shaped heads, and there are long tentacles floating under them, like soft veil wagging freely, coupled with white colored lights, very dreamy. The jellyfish swimming in the water and the bright colors make people think about it, and their thoughts spread into the deep sea and dance with them. The jellyfish in the front shows the movement of the jellyfish in different directions, with a distinct sense of hierarchy; the shining texture of the jellyfish in the back also shocked and marveled me at the wonders of underwater creatures. I want to use this photo to show the numerous changes in the world of biology, the beauty of floating light and glimpses, and hope that it can become a window to explore the marine world, and inspire us to deeply appreciate and feel the beauty of marine life. At the same time, it can also make us feel the diversity of the life.

Title: Food Rush
Description: This is a photo depicting a pond of koi chasing for a piece of food thrown into the water. Once the food lands in the water, molecules marking scent start to diffuse out of the food particles and into the water body; as a result, substances marking the food’s scent spread in the water, which mark the presence of food in the fish’s environment. Because fish species (including koi) have a tendency to be attracted to food (sitotaxis), as long as they pick up the scent molecules of food and then detect the presence of food, they will swim towards the source of the scent (i.e., the piece of food).

Title: Fallen Stars
Description: As the temperature drops lower during evening, the gas from the air condense into water droplets on the lotus leaf, which is the physical phenomenon-water condensation. Besides, due to both surface tension of water and lotus’ superhydrophobic surfaces, water droplets will remain spherical on the leaves. And at last, the surfaces of water droplets reflect the light from sky, and make themselves look like fallen stars.

Title: Reigns Peace In The Midst Of Bustle
Description: Particularly at five o'clock on a freezing winter morning, all things look so harmonious in Southwest China. The rivers form a rugged and magnificent snow-covered landscape, and the stream wounds its way from the mountain peaks to valleys. The high altitude and low temperature in the mountains easily condense water vapor into fogs. Sun rays bounce around the clouds, forming light purple, blue, red, and yellow concentric arcs in the sky. I wait until the sun rises above the horizon and the clouds slowly climb to the top of the mountain. Finally, the sun is about to shine on the top of the mountain. Colorful and auspicious clouds seem to be within reach. As the sun rises, the snow-capped mountain top shines. Peace reigns here.

Title: Lighthouse thousands of kilometers away -- planet
Description: In this photo that I taken last week in Beijing Chang Ping district, the trees at the bottom of the picture are big enough to cover one third of the blue sky. However, the planets at the remote distance is small but bright, but why is that? Because the reason why stars shine: stars don't shine. What people see is the light reflected by the sun. Stars are large celestial bodies like the sun, whose internal reactions will occur and radiate energy to space in the form of light. So it is because of the principle of planetary reflection and the physical phenomenon of refraction in our retina, we can see a luminous dot.
