小林为何会这么说？要知道在很长一段时间里，SAT/ACT都是美国大学本科入学考核评判最重要的标准之一。
然而，近年来，随着学校对学生综合素养的重视，“Test Optional”的方式已经被越来越广泛地接受。再加上疫情影响，众多学校不约而同地做出了取消标化成绩的决定。
每所学校，都在试图向我们传达同样的中心思想：个人的整体表现与综合能力，才是最根本的评判依据。
那么，如何向学校展现你的综合能力？
答案很明确：文书。
文书与补充文书
众所周知申请美国大学时，除了要提交通常一篇个人陈述文章（Personal Statement 简称PS）即Common Application系统里面的主文书外，美国各大高校通常还会有自己的补充文书题目，比如芝加哥大学、达特茅斯、圣母大学、密歇根大学、波士顿学院等等。
那么补充文书与主文书又存在着哪些的不同呢？
◾字数要求：补充文书要求字数偏少，一般在150-250字之间，最多不超过500字。
◾主题要求：与主文书确定的6个题目相比较，补充文书更加多元化，形式更加丰富，提问的范围更加大。
◾结合院校：补充文书的题目很多是需要申请者提供申请该校的原因、自己为什么选择此专业、做过什么相关活动或实习等等题目，需将自己和申请院校的特点有机的结合在一起来写。
补充文书要求的字数比主文书要少很多，其实越是简短，越考验申请者的思维能力和写作能力。而且越是排名靠前的常春藤学校，补充文书数量越多，甚至还有些学校，喜欢出偏题、怪题，无厘头让人抓狂。

要知道一轮申请季下来，许多同学都会被文书写作折磨得不成样子，有的大学会要求申请人提供 2-3 篇补充文书，一轮申请季可能要写至少 20 篇文书，这个工作量让许多同学头都变大了。

#1：Why Eassy
这类是补充文书中最为常见的一种，从“Why”这个词中我们就能大概猜出这类文书大致要写什么。基本就是“为什么申请这所学校？”“为什么选择这个专业？”......而这类补充文书，招生官主要是想要了解学生是否真正喜欢这所学校，是否与学校的风格契合等。
“Why”类补充文书书写技巧，分为【文书书写四步骤】和【灵魂四大关键词】。准备书写四步骤为：

了解自己：通过头脑风暴或自我反思在一定程度上了解了自己，知道自己的性格特点以及优势；

了解学校：通过各种渠道去了解这个学校的特色，找出这个学校吸引你的地方；

找到自己和学校间的联系：要学会透过表面看事情本质，通过学校的特点与自身相结合，证明自己与学校契合

开始写作：用一篇具体有力度的文书告诉招生官，我爱这里，我适合这里。
而在书写的过程中，同学们要掌握灵魂四大关键词：真诚、热情、匹配、双赢。从而写出一篇富有灵魂的补充文书，从而抓住招生官的心。

#2：Interests related questions
通过这类补充文书，学校可以从侧面了解到申请者是否与学校具有契合度，是否真的可以在这里得到他们希望得到的东西，学校是否可以帮助学生完成梦想......
无论是书写哪一类补充文书，有以下几条tips，大家在写文书的时候需要注意：
1.任何写作都要有亮点和主线，并且要和自身相关；
2.千万别忘了写出自己喜爱学校，选择这里的理由；
3.尽量不要提及大学的地位及排名情况；
4.最好别提及大学的创始人或人文历史之类话题；
5.诚信为本，没有的尽量不要瞎编。
