This week we celebrateFounders’ Week in honor of the day we first opened our doors on September 17, 1912.

这周，我们举行“创始人纪念周”活动来庆祝1912年9月17日上海美国学校的创立。

At Shanghai American School, the 1933 yearbook, called "The Columbian"at the time, is rather infamous.

上海美国学校1933年的年鉴《The Columbian》可谓是声名狼藉了。

The school’s first few decades saw the production of a beautiful set of yearbooks. Each was impeccably designed and produced by students under the guidance of a faculty advisor. The 1933 edition was no different, at least until it arrived at the printer.

最开始的几十年，上海美国学校的年鉴都非常精美。这些年鉴是学生们在一位老师的指导下精心设计制作。1933年的年鉴也是如此，至少在印刷之前是这样。

For reasons lost to history, the 1933 yearbook was mistakenly printed in all green ink. It so horrified the editor of the yearbook, she refused to hold a copy in her hands until an alumni reunion in 1988, a mere 55 years later.

由于时间过去太久，原因无法考证，但1933年的年鉴全部以绿色油墨印刷。这让编辑深感震惊，以至于她直到1988年上海美国学校校友会时才愿意拿上一本当年的年鉴，此时已足足过去了55年。

We celebrate the 1933 yearbook because it’s Founders'Week 2019. And also because, after 86 years, we can all finally laugh about it.

我们之所以重提1933年的年鉴，是因为上海美国学校迎来了2019年创始人纪念周。同时，在过了86年后，我们终于可以会心一笑了。
