More than130 students from Dwight'sfive global campuses and one online school gathered in Shanghai for the first time to spend a week with Qibao Dwight's students, performing together in this "Music of Spring" festival.
After weeks of rain, Shanghai finally saw the sun on Saturday. At 2:00 PM, the grand and elegant Cadillac Shanghai Concert Hall ushered in more than1,000 guests: leaders from the Minhang District Education Bureau, Qibao Town, and the International Education Association Shanghai; principals of Dwight's global campuses and Qibao High School Education Group; as well as parents, students, and their families and friends from each campus.
At the backstage of the concert hall, teachers and students had been busy forsix hours without a break. In the previous week, eight themed music workshops were hosted by the global music team of Dwight, which were open to all the students of grades 10-11 in Qibao Dwight. Teachers and students from Qibao Dwight, Dwight's campuses in New York, London, Seoul, and Dubai, as well as Wenlai Middle School spent a lot of time and energy on repeated practice, rehearsal and blocking, to present the audience a perfect performance.
This is the first time that the Dwight International Music Festival was held in a place other than Carnegie Hall in New York. It is also the first time that Qibao Dwight hosted the concert, which is of great significance. The performance is divided into the first half, intermission and the second half, with a total of14 programs. In addition to the amazing professional skills of the performers, the cultural fusion of China, South Korea, the United Kingdom and the United States was a highlight of the performance. The concert featured the beautiful and heroic gayageum and long drum performance by South Korean students, amazing peacock dance and folk music performance by Chinese students, classic chamber music and rock and roll by British and American students, and orchestra ensemble and finale chorus by global students.
