“袅袅暮秋，寒衣既成，众师荟萃于秋日杏坛，侧耳倾听来自徐慧琳老师的妙语珠玑，或欣然忘言，或醍醐灌顶，或心有戚戚焉”。这便是11月29日在清华附中国际部上演的教学探讨的一幕。
国际部作为清华附中的一部分，在语文教学上，得到了清华附中语文教研组的大力支持。国际部的中文老师们时刻保持虚心求教的态度，与清华附中的语文老师保持密切的联系，积极观摩附中语文老师的公开课和示范课，并进行深入的语文教学研讨。
正因我校一贯重视中文的教学，11月29日，国际部李文平副校长专门邀请了曾任清华附中语文组组长、现任文昌学校校长的徐慧琳老师来到清华附中国际部，组织全体中文老师，进行了听课、评课活动。在此过程中，徐老师听了7年级安祖昕老师所讲的《秋天的怀念》，10年级钱超老师、张永宽老师，以及王茜老师的《琵琶行》，并在听课结束后与所有老师进行了评课与交流。
“不愤不启，不悱不发”，徐老师向在座的中文老师们抛出的第一个提问是：语文教学最根本的是教什么？这个问题使在座的老师们陷入沉思而后进行了热烈的讨论。徐老师循着老师的回答，点出了文学作品都具有“物质外壳”和“精神内核”的属性，而作为老师，需要帮学生读懂语言，读懂“物质外壳”。
徐慧琳老师也由此引出语文教学的“道”与“术”，藉由陶渊明《饮酒》，徐老师提出“菊”作为“象”都具有特定的内涵，而“此中有真意，欲辨已忘言”则是“得鱼而忘荃，得意而忘言”,由“言”——“象”——“意”逐层递进。关于语文教学的“术”，对于国际部学生而言，则是可以借鉴西方的“术”，让学生多说，突出学生的主体地位，比如用核心问题的方式，驱动学生成为主动思考的人，课堂活动设计也要有层次，呈螺旋上升的形式。
徐慧琳老师的精彩发言赢得了在座老师们阵阵热烈的掌声，而关于语文教学的“道”与“术”也给老师们留下了深刻的印象，在向徐老师提问的环节中，老师们畅所欲言，而徐老师的回答时而幽默风趣，时而深刻智慧，整个交流过程轻松而收获满满，在愉快的氛围中结束了教学交流与探讨。
